Hi everyone. I hope you're all well.
This week's themes for the 52 week challenge are books and brown - when I first saw this theme I thought it was going to be one of the hardest themes of the whole challenge. I'm not really a brown kinda gal, and I don't read all that much either (I'm always way too busy blogging). But inspiration struck me last week when I remembered that I had seen these burnt newspaper nails. Newspapers are sort of like books right?! For purposes of this challenge, I am saying they are ;).
Click below for more.
My base colour is Sally Hansen - Without A Stitch. Once that was dry completely I soaked a small piece of newspaper in vodka (for about 15 seconds) and pressed it down onto my nail and held it there for about 20 seconds - when I removed it the print was left on my nail. Next I moved onto my burnt bits, using W7 - Black I painted rough lines where I wanted my burnt bits to be. I sponged on China Glaze - Ingrid and W7 - Black, keeping the black nearer the edge of my burnt bit. Next I used an angled brush dipped in polish remover to take off some of the polish around the burnt areas to make it look like some of the newspaper had burnt away. Finally I added a matte topcoat since newspapers aren't shiny!
I really loved these. They may not be the most conventionally pretty nails, but I think they look pretty cool. Plus I had a huge amount of fun doing them!
Have a great day everyone.
