Freckles Polish New Releases - Swatches & Review

Provided for review*

Hello lovely people! I hope you all have wonderful weekend's planned. I'm off out with the girls tonight which I am looking forward to!

Today I have some exciting new polishes from Freckles Polish to show you. Freckles Polish has to be one of my all time favourite indie brands - I don't think I've ever been disappointed with a polish by this brand - so I nearly peed with excitement when I was asked if I would like to swatch some of their new releases (a nice image, I know). There will be two brand spanking new collections released on 30th January and I have two polishes from each, plus a matte topcoat to show you.

Click below for more.

The first two polishes I'm going to be showing you are from The Coven Collection, which is a holographic collection based on the tv show American Horror Story. I've never watched American Horror Story so I can't exactly appreciate the inspiration behind these two, but they are beautiful all the same! Both of these swatches are without topcoat.

First we have Robichoux's Academy which is a gorgeous soft grey holo. The holo is pretty subtle on this one, but I think that works quite well with this polish. I was expecting this to be a three coater since it's quite a light colour, but to my surprise I reached full opacity in two coats which I was really impressed with. The formula was a dream to work with, I cannot fault it at all. I have a bit of a soft spot for grey polish and this is no exception - I absolutely love it!

This one is called The Seven Wonders and I am going to have to describe it as a blurple. It goes from blue to purple depending on the lighting. The holographic effect is much stronger on this one than Robichoux's Academy. This swatch shows two coats, but it was so nearly a one coater! Again, the formula was perfection - I always love the formula of Freckles Polish holos. Another gorgeous colour.

The next two polishes are from the the Love Me, Love Me Not collection which is a limited edition collection for Valentines day. The idea behind this one is that Valentines day isn't just for loved up couples - so these aren't your average cutesy pinks and reds you often get in Valentines collections. Both of these swatches are with topcoat.

First we have Crazy Kinda Love which is a bright pinky/purple jelly filled with blue glitters and some holo sparkle. This swatch shows two coats, it built to opacity really easily. This one had a really nice consistency - it applied easily and the glitters distributed themselves well. No moving the glitters around on your nail with this one! It did dry to a slightly matte finish, so I would recommend a nice shiny topcoat to really make this one pop. I don't own another polish even remotely close to this one - it's really unique and beautiful!

The other polish I have from this collection is Tainted Love which is a bit of a chameleon! It has a blackened purple base and contains lots of lovely brown and gold flakies. In some lights the base looks black, in others purple and when the light hits it the brown and gold flakiness really pops. I took so many photos of this one and completely failed at capturing it's true beauty on camera - so you'll just have to take my word that this one is a real stunner. My swatches show three coats, although if you're not going to be taking close up photos of your nails you could easily get away with two. At risk of sounding like a broken record here - the formula was amazing and I cannot fault it at all!

Finally I was sent a matte topcoat, which is going to be released at the same time as both of these collections. I used two coats of Freckles Polish - Glitter Like A Gemini (which I swatched here) over Robichoux's Academy and topped it with the matte topcoat. I have been needing to find a replacement matte topcoat as my current Rimmel one I use seems to have been discontinued - I think I may have found the solution here. This gives your polish a properly matte finish (not a rubbery one like some do) and the dry time is pretty good too - which is important for me as I can't whack on my fast dry topcoat when I want matte! What more can you ask for in a matte topcoat?!

Well I think the lovely Julieann (owner and creator of Freckles Polish) has really hit it out of the park with these polishes! I really cannot think of anything bad to say about them - I would recommend every single one of them. I think my favourite has to be Robichoux's Academy though. I am definitely going to be checking out the rest of these collections when they are released.

Both of these collections and the matte topcoat are due to be released on the 30th January and are available from the Freckles Polish Etsy store. You can also follow Freckles Polish on FacebookTwitter and Instagram to keep up to date with all their latest news.
