Pick A Polish: Sally Hansen - Fairy Teal

Hi guys. Happy Monday! I have recovered from my illness now so I have had a busy day catching up at work.

I have some pretty exciting nail art for you today (well I think so anyway) in the form of this week's Pick A Polish. This week it was the turn of Sally Hansen - Fairy Teal.

To see what I came up with read on after the jump.

Fairy Teal is a teal cream (as you may have guessed by the name). I used 2 coats for this swatch, although it was very nearly opaque in 1. The formula was smooth and easy to apply, but I'm not a fan of the brushes on these complete salon manicure polishes, I find them too wide. I love the colour of this, but it does stain pretty bad :( but that doesn't stop me using it cos I never have naked nails anyway.

Now for the nail art that I was so excited about..

So since this polish is called Fairy Teal.. I decided I wanted to do some fairy nail art and when I came across this picture I decided I needed to recreate it somehow.

Over Fairy Teal I used Chalkboard Nails' distressed technique just over the tips. The colours I used for this were Barry M - Indigo, Barry M - Acid Yellow, Leighton Denny - Plush Pink and Avon - Aqua Fantasy.

Then I added all my details using Barry M - Matt White. I have to say I was pretty proud of my fairies!

These took me a while, but I was so pleased with the outcome. There is definitely still room for improvement but I don't think this is bad for my first shot. I also think the teal worked pretty well, I was worried that it wouldn't look as good as if I did it with a dark blue.

What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments.

Thanks for looking.

  1. These are amazing! The distressed look is fantastic over that teal, and your freehand is fabulous!
