Neon Pond Manicure

Hi everyone. I hope you all have exciting weekends planned, I am still trying to rest my feet!

Today I have a 'pond manicure' to show you. I took inspiration from Chalkboard Nails' post here, but instead of flowers like hers I did my lines thinner to try and make them look like stars. According to her post this technique was originally by Olive View FashionI really want to try this with a dark blue jelly now, so I have ordered one just to try it out, if it comes out how I imagine it will be like stars in the night sky (hopefully lol).

If you are not already familiar with this technique you use a jelly polish (as it is sheer and you can see through the layers) and add nail art or stamping etc. after each coat of polish. So you can see the pattern at different depths through the polish. Did that make any sense?

I used China Glaze - Shell-o and my usual unnamed Color Club white.

I really really loved how this came out, I didn't want to take it off. Like I said earlier, I will be trying this again in blue. So if it works out you will be seeing this again at some point.

What are your thoughts? Have you tried anything similar?

Thanks for stopping by.

Minion Nails

Hello lovelies. How are you? I'm still off work at the moment, not being able to walk properly is very frustrating.

Today I have some minion nails to show you. I feel I am a bit late to the party with these, but I finally watched Despicable Me 2 last week and decided I want to get in on the minion nail art action.

I started with a base of Nicole by OPI - Hit The Lights.

I then used an unnamed Color Club blue and added it like a french tip. I used a striper brush to add the little straps.

For the eyes I used a few different sized dotting tools. The polishes were Avon - Mercury Metal, Color Club - White, Leighton Denny - Forbidden Territory and W7 - Black. I used the black and a striper for the straps.

For the mouths I used a detail brush and a dotting tool for the teeth. The polishes for the mouths were W7 - Black, Barry M - Passionfruit and Color Club - White.

These did take me quite a long time, but I was pleased with the outcome. I got quite a few compliments whilst wearing them. If I was having a bad time (which is quite often working in a call centre lol) I would look at my nails and they would cheer me up a bit. How can you not laugh at those faces?!

Have you seen Despicable Me? Did you love it as much as I did?

Thanks for stopping by.

#BritishBloggerSelection

Hello everyone. How are we all? I am currently off work as I had an operation on my feet yesterday, I am trying to figure out a way to do my nails at my desk and still keep my feet elevated like the doctor told me to lol.

I've not got any nails to show you today (stay tuned for them tomorrow), I have more of an announcement. I was recently contacted by Ellie of Little Vintage Camera asking if I wanted to be part of #BritishBloggerSelection. This is basically a group of British bloggers who are given a theme each week to post about. This isn't just for nail bloggers, anyone with any kind of blog can join in, as long as you are British.

If you want to join in on the action you can contact Ellie on the details here. You just need to send her your blog URL, blog name and your full name and you will be added to the group. Ellie has a page on her blog about the #BritishBloggerSelection here and there are links to all the blogs which are taking part. She also has some great little badges to use too!

I haven't done very well this week, what with my operation and all I don't think I am going to manage joining in on this weeks theme. But I am going to try and get my act together for next week!

Pick A Polish: Barry M - Lady

Hello everyone. How are we all today?

Today I have the start of a new series to show you. As you may have gathered by the title I have called this Pick A Polish. Like many other nail polish addicts I have an ever growing stash, but a lot of my polishes tend to get neglected and sit untried for prolonged periods of time whilst I keep going back to the same few bottles. So I have decided to pick a polish at random from my stash (using an excel spreadsheet and a random number generator so I can't cheat) once a week. I then have to create some nail art with said polish and I shall be posting the results.

Today was the turn of number 312... Barry M - Lady. I lucked out with this one as I only got this recently and was planning on playing with it soon anyway.

I decided to do something simple, I settled on a dotticure as I haven't done one for ages and I do really love them.

I started with a base of Models Own - Nude Beige.

I then added the dots with Barry M - Lady and a few different sized dotting tools.

I didn't add a topcoat as Lady is a textured polish

Here is a swatch of Lady on its own. I used two coats for this photo, the formula was good and easy to apply. There is still a bit of visible nail line but this didn't bother me. I think with three coats it would be opaque. It dried fairly fast which is important as if you want to keep the texture you can't slather it with a fast dry topcoat. So it gets a thumbs up from me!

Have you tried this polish? What do you think? Let me know in the comments.

Thanks for looking.

Inspired By A Dress.

Hello lovelies. I hope we all have exciting weekends planned, I was working this morning so my weekend starts now!

I had no idea what to call this design, hence my very creative title. I was browsing the Topshop website and spotted this dress (which I think I might need). I thought it was very pretty, but instead of blowing £34 I decided to put it on my nails instead.

I used a base of Barry M - Watermelon. This is a lovely polish but stained my nails like a bitch, even when I doubled up on base coat.

I then used Revlon - Minted and a striping brush to make sort of like tiger/zebra stripes.

Finally I freehanded all the little squares with a detail brush and a white creme. This was ridiculously fiddly.

I wasn't sure about these at first, but they grew on me and I ended up quite liking them. They are far from perfect, tiny squares are hard to paint! I was also hoping to get more of the design on the nail, but that kinda went out the window, oh well.

Let me know what you think in the comments.

Thanks for looking.
