OPI Pink Of Hearts Nail Art

Hello everyone. It's the weekend and I am going on holiday in a few days, this makes me very happy :).

I bought the OPI - Pink Of Hearts 2013 set a little while ago, and since October is breast cancer awareness month, I figured what better time to try it out. I set out with the intention of this being a fully fledged breast cancer awareness themed manicure, with the little ribbons and stuff. But that kinda went out the window whilst I was doing it and I ended up with something else lol. Does that ever happen to anyone else?

The Pink Of Hearts set consists of a pink creme (Pinking Of You) and a matte glitter (More Than A Glimmer), I wasn't blown away by this set. Pinking Of You was nice, but nothing special. More Than A Glimmer just wasn't my kind of thing unfortunately, but I know a lot of people love it. I don't regret purchasing it though as it is for a good cause.

For my nail art I started with a base of Pinking Of You on my thumb, index and middle fingers. On my ring finger I used 3 coats of More Than A Glimmer.

On my thumb I added some pink and purple studs, secured using topcoat.

On my index and middle fingers I added the lines with China Glaze - Fancy Pants and Barry M - Raspberry. For the dots I used Essie - Splash Of Grenadine.

On my little finger I did a gradient using the same 3 polishes.

I can't say I loved how these came out, I started them quite late in the evening and I feel I ended up rushing them in the end cos I needed to go to sleep. Nail art and rushing are not the best of combinations!

Has anyone else purchased this set? What did you think?

Thanks for looking.

Inspired By My Shower Curtain :P

Hello lovelies. I hope everyone has exciting weekends planned. It was pay day yesterday so I am planning on going shopping and treating myself today :).

Today I have some nail art to show you which was inspired by my shower curtain. A bit random, but inspiration hit me as I was standing in the shower and I just had to recreate them. I tried to take a picture of my shower curtain, but its a bit gross so there is a link to a nicer picture here. It is slightly brighter in real life though.

For these nails I used a base of China Glaze - Dandy Lyin' Around.

For the petals I used Barry M - Greenberry and a detail brush.

I wanted to make them matte. So I added a coat of Seche Vite to seal the design as I find my matte top coat smudges nail art. I then added a coat of Rimmel Matte Top Coat.

I was really proud of these, I was kinda apprehensive about doing such little details but I think they turned out quite well.

What is the strangest thing you have been inspired by?

Thanks for stopping by.

Swirly Floral Nails

Hello lovelies. I hope everyone is doing well.

I wasn't really sure what to call this design, hence the title. I was feeling a bit uninspired when I was doing these so I just sat down and painted and this is how it turned out.

I started with a base of Sally Hansen - Without A Stitch.

I added the swirl down the middle using China Glaze - Goldie But Goodie and a nail art brush.

I then added the flowers and other dots using OPI - Live and Let Die and China Glaze - Goldie But Goodie again with dotting tools.

It was as simple as that, so easy to do. But I still was happy with how these came out. I think they are quite appropriate for autumn, as summer is well and truly gone now.

Thanks for stopping by!

Flame Nail Art.

Hello everyone. I hope you all had a good week, I am certainly glad its the weekend again.

My laptop is now working again, yay! So no more stealing my boyfriend's laptop when he isn't looking :).

Today I have a design to show you which was inspired by this post here by Nail Lacquer (I say inspired by, in reality its more like completely copying lol). I haven't been following her blog for too long but she has some amazing designs, so if you don't follow her already go and check out her blog. You won't regret it!

For this design I started with a base of Leighton Denny - Prim and Proper. I believe in the original design she just used a coat of nail envy, which definitely looks better, but my nails are too gross and stained so I wasn't brave enough to do this.

I sponged on A England - And The Moonbeams to the tips of my nails, but I failed a bit at capturing this in my pictures.

For the flames I used Sally Hansen - Fiery Island (orange), Nicole by OPI - Hit The Lights (yellow) and China Glaze - Hey Sailor (red). I freehanded these with my nail art brush.

I added the black details with W7 - Black also using my nail art brush. For the little dots I used my Barry M nail art pen.

I top-coated and I was done.

You can sort of see the shimmer of And The Moonbeams in this picture.

Overall I was happy with how these came out. They were initially intended to look like flowers, but I don't think I captured that. So I decided they could just be flames instead haha!

Thanks for looking!

Red and Gold Floral Accents

Hello loves, I hope everyone is well.

Today I have some nail art to show you that I wore just over a week ago. I wasn't really sure where I was going with this design. I just sat down with some polishes and went from there. I have to admit I wasn't 100% pleased with how these turned out, but I guess its all good practice :).

For this mani I used a base of OPI - Innie Minnie Mighty Bow on my thumb, index and ring finger and on my pinky I used China Glaze - Goldie But Goodie. On my middle finger I did a gradient of both of these colours.

On my thumb and ring finger I then painted some flowers with a nail art brush using Goldie But Goodie and a black and white creme polish.

I topped everything off with Seche Vite and I was done.

Excuse the messy bit on my middle finger, I clearly need to work on my clean up skills when doing gradients.

Thanks for stopping by!

Palm Tree Nail Art

Helloo!

Well my first attempt at blogging kinda failed a little bit didn't it. I don't think I realised how time consuming running a blog actually is, but I have decided to have another shot at it. However this time I actually have a couple of different things already lined up to show you, instead of throwing myself in head first with no preparation and then getting overwhelmed as I have nothing to post! I think I will try and break myself in gently and aim to post at least once a week and then if I feel able to post more often I shall do so :).

Anyway, enough of the babbling and onto the nails.

China Glaze Sunsational Collection.

Hello everyone, I hope all is well.

Today I have a couple of swatches to show you of 2 of China Glazes new polishes from the Sunsational Collection. I have seen mixed reviews about this collection, but I thought I would try a couple to see for myself. I bought Sun of a Peach and Keepin' It Teal which is a neon orange creme and a teal jelly. I wasn't completely sold on these, but I will go into more detail later.

First up, Keepin' It Teal..

Spring Inspired Skittle Mani

I'm baaack! Did you miss me?

I apologise for my hiatus but sometimes life gets a bit hectic. But I am all moved into my new flat now, and slowly getting everything sorted. So I now have a bit more free time and have finally managed to do something interesting with my nails.

For this design I took a lot of inspiration from The Nailasaurus, her blog is one of the first that I started following and she is a truly awesome nail artist. If you haven't seen her blog already (where have you been hiding?!) there is a link to it here, I highly recommend you check it out.

Bubbles!

I have some nail art to show you today. Another dotting mani, I seem to be having a thing for dots at the moment I am wearing them all the time. I will start posting something other than dots soon I promise! I do quite like how these turned out, and they were so simple to do. They sort of remind me of bubbles, hence the title of this post.

Spots and Stripes.

Today I have some more nail art to show you. I'm not really sure what inspired me for this mani. I guess I like stripes and I like spots so thought I would combine the two. I really liked how this design turned out, however I was having serious lighting issues when trying to take the photos, so I shall apologise in advance for those. I am still trying to figure out the best way to take photos of my nails, so bear with me! But I am sure I will get the knack eventually. If anyone reading this has any tips they can give me that would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway onto the pictures...

Splatter Nails.

Today I have some splatter nails to show you. I have seen this technique done quite a lot but I have never tried it before myself, so I was quite pleased with how they turned out. It also gave me a chance to use my new China Glaze polishes that I purchased a few weeks ago :).
