Easter Nails.

I hope everyone is having a nice and relaxing Easter, I am spending my day painting my nails and catching up on lots of telly. It's so good to have some time off work!

To celebrate the occasion I thought I would do some Easter themed nails. I knew I wanted to incorporate bunnies or chicks, but I couldn't decide which so I went for both :). I am pretty happy with how these turned out, I think they are rather cute (even if I do say so myself).

Polish for a pound?!

Hello again!

I was shopping in my local Tesco the other day and found myself drawn to the beauty aisle (this is becoming a frequent problem of mine) and I came across some polish for £1 a bottle! I believe this is Tesco's own brand of polish. While I do love a bargain, I was quite sceptical as to whether this stuff would actually be any good. But I thought for a pound I may as well give it a try, and here are the results...

This brand is called All About Nails and the polish I got was called Bronze (not such an inventive name). This polish is probably more of an appropriate colour for autumn, not spring - but I still liked it regardless. The photo shows two coats with no topcoat. I was pleasantly surprised by this polish. The formula was fairly good - it streaked a tiny bit but I often find that can happen with this kind of shade. It was completely opaque in two coats and was pretty easy to apply. There were a few other colours in this range and I would be interested to see if the rest are consistent with this.

Overall I would say that this polish is great for someone on a small budget. Slightly streaky, but for £1 you can't really complain.

Thanks for looking!

Bubbles!

I have some nail art to show you today. Another dotting mani, I seem to be having a thing for dots at the moment I am wearing them all the time. I will start posting something other than dots soon I promise! I do quite like how these turned out, and they were so simple to do. They sort of remind me of bubbles, hence the title of this post.

Spots and Stripes.

Today I have some more nail art to show you. I'm not really sure what inspired me for this mani. I guess I like stripes and I like spots so thought I would combine the two. I really liked how this design turned out, however I was having serious lighting issues when trying to take the photos, so I shall apologise in advance for those. I am still trying to figure out the best way to take photos of my nails, so bear with me! But I am sure I will get the knack eventually. If anyone reading this has any tips they can give me that would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway onto the pictures...

Random Swatch: Barry M Gelly - Lychee

I have been swatching some of my polishes lately. I have an ever growing stash of nail polish and I am finding that I have a lot of polishes that I haven't even tried. So I thought I would start swatching them and posting the results on here :). That gives me an excuse to try all my unused polishes.

Today I have Barry M Gelly - Lychee to show you. I love Barry M Gelly polishes, I find them so easy to apply and I love the shiny finish. But Lychee has to be one of my favourites.

Lychee is a nude/beige colour which I really have a thing for at the moment. The formula is great and I had no issues with application. For the photo I used two coats and no top coat, as it is pretty damn shiny anyway. I think this shade is great as it is so neutral and will go with pretty much anything.

Has anyone else tried this polish? What did you think of it?

Splatter Nails.

Today I have some splatter nails to show you. I have seen this technique done quite a lot but I have never tried it before myself, so I was quite pleased with how they turned out. It also gave me a chance to use my new China Glaze polishes that I purchased a few weeks ago :).

Hello and welcome!

Hello and welcome to my blog.

I think I may be talking into a black hole at the moment, but I figured I may as well introduce myself anyway :).

My name is Vicky and I am a 19 year old girl from Essex, UK and I am obsessed with nails and nail art! I currently work in a call centre but one day hope to do nails for a living. I first got into nail art about 6 months ago when I came across a few blogs on the internet. Since then I have spent countless hours trying different designs on my nails, so I thought I would start a blog to share some of my creations.

Anyway.. onto the nails!

I thought I would start out with something simple, a nice dotting mani. I often find that simple turns out the best.

For this mani I used a white pearly base from W7 (I have no idea what this polished is called, there is no name on the bottle, sorry!) and I used Barry M Gelly - Dragonfruit and Greenberry for the dots. For the dots I used a few different sized dotting tools and just scattered them in a diagonal pattern across my nail. All topped off with Seche Vite.
